About Our Client:
Adecco is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Estimator to oversee our client's residential Single family construction projects. Based in Edmonton, our client is one of Alberta’s top home builders, currently building 13 communities across the Edmonton region.
Job Overview:
The Residential Construction Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of residential construction projects from initial concept through to completion. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the residential construction industry in Edmonton, including local building codes, materials, and labor costs. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
Bid Preparation: Develop and submit competitive bids and proposals to clients, ensuring all project requirements are met.
Project Analysis: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to determine project costs and feasibility.
Vendor Coordination: Obtain and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with project requirements.
Budget Management: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, providing updates and recommendations to management and clients as needed.
Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure clarity and alignment on project scope and costs.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and local market conditions to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and provide solutions to mitigate cost overruns and project delays.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an estimator in the residential construction industry, preferably within the Edmonton region.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of residential construction processes, materials, and local building codes in Edmonton.
Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with estimating software and tools. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to achieve project goals.
Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing project requirements.
