As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Calgary's real estate landscape and opportunity to work on Calgary's premium high-rise projects.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator/Project Manager to lead our high-rise concrete projects in the Calgary region. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both estimating and project management, with a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. This dual-role position requires exceptional leadership, technical, and communication skills to effectively manage project lifecycle from initial estimate to project completion.
Key Responsibilities:

Estimating:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for high rise concrete projects, encompassing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop project cost summaries, ensuring competitive and complete bid proposals.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market conditions, pricing trends, and cost drivers in the Calgary region.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring alignment with project requirements and cost-effectiveness.

Project Management:
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and budgeting activities, ensuring all project phases are executed to the highest standards.
- Oversee the construction process, ensuring adherence to project plans, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identifying and mitigating potential risks and delays.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.

Financial Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring projects remain within financial constraints.
- Implement cost control measures and monitor expenditures to optimize project profitability.
- Process invoices and coordinate with the finance department to ensure timely payments.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all work complies with contractual specifications, building codes, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations.
- Resolve any issues related to quality or safety in a timely manner.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
- Prepare regular status reports for senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into project performance.
- Ensure all project records are organized and up to date.

Leadership and Team Development:
- Mentor and develop junior estimators and project managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Lead by example, promoting a positive work environment and high-performance standards.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
- Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in estimating and project management for high rise concrete construction projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects in the Calgary region.

Skills:
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management and estimating software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations specific to high rise concrete projects.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) are highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Work Environment:
- The role requires a mix of office-based work and on-site project management, depending on project needs.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and managing multiple site activities.
