Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced independent contractor to join our team as a highly motivated Deputy Project Manager to work for our client’s team in Kitimat, BC. In this role you will support the Project Manager in overseeing and executing key projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects and work with a dynamic team in a contract capacity.

  • Pay Rate: $200-$210 per hour

  • Location: Kitimat, BC

  • Shift: Monday to Friday; 10 hrs per day; Saturday; 8 hrs per day (if necessary)

Responsibilities:
Team Management

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional project team, including construction interfaces, field engineering, commissioning, and project controls professionals.

Project Planning

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Identify and mitigate risks.

  • Track and control projects to deliver them within their approved scope, quality, budget, and schedule.

Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate project progress and issues to stakeholders, including senior management, communities, and regulatory authorities.

  • Experience in environmental permitting requirements and management of contaminated soil in British Columbia would be considered an asset.

  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, authorities, and other stakeholders.

  • Acts in the owner’s best interest by interacting with internal technical and functional groups and Turnkey Contractor for project success.

  • Perform any other duty related to the safe delivery of the project that may be assigned by the Project Manager or his designate.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada

  • Minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience in project management, preferably in Aluminum Smelter, Heavy Industries, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry, specifically infrastructure/construction projects.

  • Excellent understanding of Construction and Operations Interface Management and Commissioning.

  • Change management related to scopes of work and understanding and adherence to the Project Management Body of Knowledge.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal project management training is considered an asset.

  • Experience in the British Columbia is desirable.

  • Experience in a Managerial capacity (minimum 5 years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to interface with Client, subcontractors, and Vendor.

  • Previous experience in leading a Multi-discipline Commissioning Team.

  • Good understanding of various Engineering disciplines.

  • Ability to manage and control project completions team and systems.

  • Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements, constraints, and risks.

  • Ability to lead a team of engineers/supervisors for the execution of Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and start-up activities.

  • Excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions.

  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in safety documentation.

  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks to manage.

  • Relevant professional or technical certification would be considered as an asset.

  • Advanced level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and across organizational boundaries.

  • Advanced level multi-tasking skills with ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
