Adecco is currently actively seeking an Automation Service Unit Manager for a full-time position in Toronto, Ontario, offering $61.79 per hour.
In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of automation projects within a high-performing laboratory environment. You’ll oversee scheduling, develop robotic protocols, and integrate advanced automation systems to enhance operational efficiency and scientific throughput.
This position is ideal for a technically skilled professional with proven experience in Hamilton liquid handling systems, Venus 4 programming, and automation project management—someone who thrives on innovation, precision, and collaboration in the biotechnology space.
Pay rate: $61.79/hour.
Location: Toronto, ON
Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

Responsibilities:
Manage and schedule activities within the automation service unit, ensuring timely completion of all automation requests and project milestones.
Utilize project management tools (KanBan boards, Jira) and lead weekly scrums to communicate progress, updates, and deliverables.
Independently create robotic protocols in Venus 4 software to operate Hamilton liquid handlers.
Develop, update, and maintain SoftMax Pro protocols in a non-GxP environment, including automated data calculations, statistics, and final reports.
Maintain comprehensive user stories, programming notes, and continuous improvement documentation.
Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, technologists, and leadership to translate complex manual processes into automated workflows.
Ensure data stewardship and precision in all laboratory outputs.
Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of automation specialists to drive performance and innovation.
Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
Master’s degree in Science or Applied Science, specializing in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or High-Throughput Assay Development (preferred).
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in laboratory automation, specifically with Hamilton systems.
Proven ability to optimize throughput and resource utilization through automation.
Proficient in Venus 4, Green Button Go, or Genera integration software.
Familiar with ELISAs, protein assays, and analytical QC tests.
Programming proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and data management (SQL/NoSQL).
Skilled in mechanical integration of laboratory instruments and robotics.
Strong communicator, analytical thinker, and collaborative leader.
English required; French is an asset.
