Assistant Kitchen Manager

Responsibilities:  

• Assist the Kitchen Manager in daily operations and team leadership.

• Oversee kitchen staff to ensure timely and high-quality food preparation.

• Monitor inventory levels, support supply ordering, and reduce waste.

• Enforce food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with regulations.

• Mentor and train kitchen staff to build a productive and positive work culture.

• Manage scheduling, shift coverage, and labour cost control.

• Collaborate on menu planning and recipe development.

• Troubleshoot operational issues and help maintain kitchen equipment.

Requirements:  

• Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.

• Proven experience in a kitchen leadership role (Sous Chef, Line Cook Supervisor, or equivalent).

• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Culinary certification or relevant training is an asset.

• Comfortable standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in hot, humid, and noisy conditions.
