Adecco is currently seeking a part-time Assistant Chef to join our client’s team in Oshawa, ON, offering $30 per hour. This role is ideal for a skilled culinary professional who enjoys creating nutritious, high-quality meals in a long-term care environment.

You will support daily kitchen operations, ensure food safety standards are met, and contribute to a positive dining experience for residents. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your culinary skills to make a meaningful difference every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, prepare, and organize safe, nutritious, and appetizing meals for residents.

  • Follow menus, recipes, and production sheets to plan and coordinate daily meal requirements.

  • Supervise and guide food service staff regarding meal production and portion control.

  • Ensure proper rotation and storage of food items in fridges and freezers to maintain freshness.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment by cleaning equipment, counters, and utensils.

  • Support meal preparation for special functions and resident events.

  • Comply with all food safety, workplace safety, and long-term care regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.

  • Culinary Management Diploma or Journeyman Cook’s Certification (or equivalent)

  • Valid Food Handler Certificate (within 5 years)

  • 2+ years of quantity cooking experience, ideally in long-term care

  • Knowledge of safe food handling and workplace safety

  • Proficient in Word and Excel

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

  • Able to work independently and perform physical kitchen duties

  • Police Check, TB screening, and Mask Fit compliance required
