Adecco is actively seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to join our client’s team in Peterborough, ON. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $57,000 - $75,000 per annum. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping skills, critical thinking abilities, and a passion for helping clients navigate their financial needs. This role involves working with cloud-based accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 50, and CaseWare.
  • Pay Rate: $57k-$75k/year based on experience.
  • Location: Peterborough, ON
  • Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Job type: Permanent | Full-time
Responsibilities:  
  • Providing bookkeeping assistance to clients, both internally and externally, in various formats including QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), Sage 50, and CaseWare
  • Processing transactions in integrated cloud-based systems
  • Applying critical thinking to assess transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatments
  • Processing payroll for clients and managing associated remittances
  • Preparing and filing sales tax returns
  • Performing account reconciliations and completing ROEs
  • Preparing client reports as needed
  • Preparing T4s, T4As, and T5018s
  • Producing accurate and timely financial reports
  • Helping onboard new clients and assisting in the development of accounting workflows and process documentation
  • Providing ongoing training and support for clients in all areas of bookkeeping
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Mentoring and training team members to maximize their potential and contribute to personal and team growth  
Requirements:  
  • Legal eligibility to work and reside in Canada.
  • Graduation from a postsecondary institution – bookkeeping diploma is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in public practice or managing multiple clients
  • Strong bookkeeping skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities are essential
  • Advanced experience with cloud-based accounting software, particularly QuickBooks
  • Intermediate Excel skills (advanced skills would be a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
