The principle
There is no better way of showing the respect we have for one another than making a conscious effort to ensure that our working environments and practices are safe, healthy and environmentally sound. We owe it to ourselves and each other to be conscious of the health and safety risks around us. We do not send external colleagues to work at locations that do not meet Adecco Group’s safety standards.
Some concrete examples:
-
The often relatively young age of temporary staff working in the construction or manufacturing sectors, and their unfamiliarity with the workplace, makes accidents more likely. Therefore, Adia (France) launched a specific accident prevention programme, comprising a provocative internal awareness campaign, with posters visible to both external colleagues (associates) and clients, as well as educational measures addressed to client companies. As a result, the accident rate among Adia external colleagues fell by 9.9% between 2003 and 2006.
-
At Adecco Austria, all external colleagues employed for less than six months undergo basic health and safety training. All occupational accidents and near-accidents are reported and documented. The rate of occupational accidents affecting Adecco external colleagues fell by 25% between 2005 and 2006.

Adecco Switzerland is launching a pilot project, “swisstempcare”, together with some competitors under the umbrella of the Swiss Staffing Association. At the heart of “swisstempcare” is a special care team, which contacts and, where necessary, visits associates who have to stay home due to health problems. The aim is to help them get back into employment at the right time, with a particular focus on long-term absence, which may hinder re-entry into the labour market. Swisstempcare addresses this and related risks.
