Angela Rodrigues, 36, French, mother, forklift truck driver. Born of Portuguese parents, Angela grew up in Bourg-en-Bresse, eastern France. She broke off training in nursery care to marry. Later, returning to work to support herself and her son, she took a series of jobs in catering, industrial cleaning and on assembly lines. Adecco took her on, found her a place at a major French automotive manufacturer and helped her train as a driver.
"My dad worked for the same company making trucks for 17 years. I was always fascinated by the factory. When I first went back to work, it was a struggle. I had a string of jobs I didn‘t like, as well as a period of illness. But I have a strong family who helped me through. And now I have fallen on my feet with Adecco. They are like a second family. I love the job at the plant. We are a great team. I hope to qualify soon as a truck driver."
Adecco runs retraining programmes in several countries, bringing people back into employment by giving them the skills modern workplaces require. Initiatives worldwide support groups often excluded from skilled work, such as people with disabilities, youth and single parents. By fostering acceptance of flexible work solutions and developing routes to lifelong learning, Adecco is responding to the needs of its associates.
